About
About Katherine
Katherine spent her years as a child riding horses at her family’s ranch in Yosemite, California. Her mother, a horsewoman herself, spent her childhood escaping Los Angeles to family cattle ranches in Nevada, New Mexico, and a close family friend’s ranch in Idaho. She instilled a profound love and respect for horses in her daughter from a young age.
After years of developing her riding abilities, she opened Novak Equestrian in 2016. She believes that horses make us better humans, and has loved the 24/7 dedication she has put towards her business in its first 8 years! Katherine’s greatest joy is seeing clients grow from everything she has taught them while helping her to care for the twenty horses currently in the barn.
Katherine’s method of teaching involves open communication, kindness, and patience. She is acutely aware of different styles of learning and is happy to adjust aspects of her teaching in a way that suits each client best. She welcomes all questions and believes there is always a way to help each client understand new principles of riding and horsemanship.
Barn Life
At Novak Equestrian, we believe the barn should be an oasis where the worries and struggles of everyday life can melt away. To achieve this kind of environment, we have a strict policy against bullying, gossip, or making others feel less-than. We expect each client to treat others with respect and kindness, whether they are members of our barn or otherwise.
Regardless of skill level, we are all equal. We believe in celebrating each other’s victories and lending a helping hand when support is needed. We all have one very important interest: our love of horses. The joy we feel with our equine partners is best celebrated together.
